Joseph
H. Pilates "Physical fitness
is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical
fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body
with a sound mind capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily
performing our many and varied tasks with spontaneous zest and
pleasure."
Joseph Pilates, Return to life (1945)
Objectives of Pilates Training: To offer a comprehensive exercise method that strengthen, tones and enhance the flexibility of the body, abdominal strength, full body control, greater flexibility, integration of the spine and the limbs, and most significantly, the combined power of the body and the mind. By performing many different exercises for a low number of repetitions, the muscles are strengthened, elongated and toned without creating bulk. Total concentration of the body during each exercise emphasizes movement quality, coordination and breath. *
